Protect New Paint from Day One

Denman Prospect, Coombs, Wright and Whitlam are new estates filling up with new houses and new cars. If you've just handed over the keys to a brand-new build and a brand-new SUV, the single best time in the car's entire life to add proper paint protection is right now.

Ceramic coating on new paint is straightforward, effective and dramatically cheaper than trying to fix damage later. We come out to your new-estate driveway and do the whole thing in a day.

There's a specific case for ceramic coating that only applies when the car is new, and the Molonglo Valley is where we make it more than anywhere else in Canberra. New paint out of the factory is chemically at its cleanest, the clear coat is intact, there's no bonded iron from years of brake dust, no tar, no wash marring from a decade of service washes. Prep for a coating on new paint is often just a proper decontamination wash and an IPA wipedown. No correction. That means the coating bonds to the clearest possible surface and gives you the full claimed lifespan.

On a car that's five years old the story is completely different. To coat it properly we first have to strip out five years of accumulated damage, swirl marks from automatic washes, water spots, sun oxidation, whatever's happened over the years. That correction work is where most of the cost of a "coat my older car" job actually lives. Skipping it on a new car saves you meaningful money and gives you a better long-term result. This is the honest financial case, not a sales pitch.

Coating aside, the other reason we do a lot of work in the Molonglo Valley is that new-estate life is genuinely tough on a car for the first year. Construction dust and cement splatter drift over from the block next door. Fresh road surfaces bleed tar in hot weather. Landscape trucks and dry topsoil deliveries leave everything coated in a fine grit. A coated car handles all of that dramatically better than an uncoated one, grit rinses off cleanly, tar wipes with a solvent, cement splatter comes off with a decontamination wash rather than needing to be scraped.

One practical thing worth flagging that affects almost every new Molonglo Valley home: fresh concrete driveways. Concrete takes about 4–6 weeks to fully cure and, in that period, it's porous and stainable. If your driveway is that fresh, we'll either park on the street and hand-carry gear in, or work around the driveway rather than on it. Not a dealbreaker, just worth mentioning when you book so we don't leave a wash mark on your brand-new slab.

The Molonglo Valley customer base skews first-home-buyer, first-new-car, first-time-thinking-about-detailing. If ceramic coating is a new concept to you, we'll walk you through the options, 3-year, 5-year or 10-year package, what each covers, what maintenance looks like afterwards, without making it weird. There's no upsell trap here. Sometimes the right answer for a new car is a full detail now and a coating in six months, and we'll tell you that if that's the case. The goal is to protect what you've just spent good money on.

Questions we hear from this area

My car is only three months old, is it too soon for a ceramic coating?+

It's the perfect time, actually. New paint is at its best from the factory: intact clear coat, no swirls, no bonded contamination. Coating it now means you're protecting a genuinely pristine surface, no correction needed, straight to prep and coat. Every month you wait is a month where dealer washes, road grime and pollen work against you.

Do you have to be careful working in a brand-new estate driveway? Some of them are still curing.+

Yes, we're aware. If your concrete is under about six weeks old we'll ask you to confirm it's been sealed before we work on it, or we'll park on the street and hand-carry equipment in. It's mainly a stain risk for you rather than a problem for us, and asking upfront saves a headache. Just mention it when you book.
