Mobile Detailing Across Gungahlin

Gungahlin is family-car country. RAV4s, CX-5s, Sorentos, X-Trails and the odd Kluger, most of them doing school runs, junior sport drop-offs and weekend shops out of a big driveway in Harrison, Franklin or Casey. The interiors take a beating. That's what we fix.

The upside of the Gungahlin build style is that almost every house has a proper driveway and side access, perfect for a mobile detailer. We roll up, plug into your outdoor tap, and get the family car back to how it looked before the school year started.

The single most common booking we take from Gungahlin is a full interior detail on a mid-size family SUV that hasn't had a real clean in six to twelve months. The pattern is almost identical every time: rear seat and boot full of goldfish crackers, sultana fragments and a mystery sticky patch near the middle child's cup holder. Third-row seats in the seven-seaters that never get folded down properly. A car seat or two that hasn't been out of the vehicle since it was installed. That's not judgement, that's just a car doing its job for a family with kids. Our job is to reset it.

The way we work through a Gungahlin family car is methodical. Seats out where practical, boot completely emptied, car seats removed and cleaned separately, then a deep vacuum with a crevice tool through every seam. We steam-extract the seat fabric and carpets, which pulls stains and smells out of the fibres rather than just masking them, and we hand-clean every hard surface, dash, doors, cup holders, centre console, with an interior-safe cleaner. Ceiling gets a light clean too, which most people don't realise gets grubby until we show them the before-and-after.

The Gungahlin house style also makes the exterior side of the job easier than most parts of Canberra. Almost every property has a full-width driveway, side gate access, and an outdoor tap within a metre of where we'd park. That means we can do a proper two-bucket hand wash without any of the awkwardness we get in older, tighter suburbs. If you've got a bigger vehicle, a LandCruiser, a Patrol, a Ram, the driveway usually has the width to open all four doors and still have room to work around the car properly.

Newer suburbs come with a hidden opportunity worth mentioning. If your car is under two years old and you've never had it professionally protected, this is the cheapest time in its life to add a ceramic coating. The factory clear coat is intact, the paint hasn't been contaminated by five years of Canberra weather yet, and correction work, if it's needed at all, is minimal. A lot of our Casey, Taylor and Throsby clients book a full detail first, look at the finish, and then book back in a month later for a coating on both the family car and the second car.

One logistical thing worth flagging: some of the newest streets in Casey, Jacka and Moncrieff aren't fully in Google Maps or older GPS units yet. When you book, give us the actual street number rather than dropping a pin, and if your build is brand-new we'll text you when we're a few minutes away to make sure we find the right driveway. Everything else runs the way it does everywhere, we quote on inspection, do the job, send a photo, take payment when you're happy.

Questions we hear from this area

How bad can my kids' car seats be before you can't help?+

Genuinely, not that bad. We regularly pull out car seats that have had juice spilled, chips ground in, and the occasional motion-sickness incident. The steam extractor pulls stains out of the fabric, we deep-clean the plastic base, and we put the seat back in installed properly. We've never turned down a family car for being 'too far gone'.

Can you come out to the newer Casey and Taylor streets? Some GPS setups don't have them yet.+

Yep, we service every new estate up this end, Casey, Taylor, Throsby, Moncrieff, Jacka, Kenny. We'll ask you for the actual street address when you book rather than dropping a pin, and if your build is brand-new we might text you when we're a few minutes out just to make sure we find the right driveway.
